Who handles your data
The party responsible for handling your data is Serres Drive, which runs the website https://serresdrive.com and provides the vehicle hire service described on it.
You can write to us at serresdrive@gmail.com or call us on +34 649 66 33 80 about anything to do with your data, including exercising the rights explained below.
What data we handle
Whatever you give us when you get in touch: your name, phone number, the car you are interested in, the dates and anything you tell us in your message.
It is worth knowing how the form on this website works, because it is not the usual arrangement: it sends nothing to any server of ours. When you press “Send on WhatsApp”, WhatsApp opens with the message already written and you are the one who decides whether to send it. This website does not store what you type into the form, neither on a server nor in your browser.
Browsing data: if you accept the analytics or advertising cookies, Google receives information about your visit (pages viewed, where the traffic came from, device type, IP address). If you do not accept them, they are never switched on.
If you do go ahead and hire a vehicle, we will also ask you, in order to sign the agreement, for the details the law and the insurer require: identification, driving licence and means of payment. Those details are collected away from this website.
What we use it for, and on what legal basis
- Answering your enquiry and putting a quote together for you — to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (GDPR art. 6.1.b).
- Managing the hire, the handover and the return of the vehicle — performance of the contract (GDPR art. 6.1.b).
- Meeting our tax, accounting and driver identification obligations — legal obligation (GDPR art. 6.1.c).
- Measuring how the website performs and which adverts bring in customers — only with your consent (GDPR art. 6.1.a), which you can withdraw whenever you like.
- Dealing with complaints, accidents, fines or anything else that comes up during the hire — legitimate interest in defending our rights (GDPR art. 6.1.f).
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not hand it to anyone so they can advertise to you off their own bat. It only reaches the people needed to provide you with the service:
- WhatsApp Ireland Limited (Meta group), if you write to us on WhatsApp: the conversation is governed by WhatsApp's terms and privacy policy.
- Google Ireland Limited, if you accept the analytics or advertising cookies, to measure visits and campaigns.
- Our web hosting provider, which stores the site and logs access to the server.
- The owner of the vehicle, when the car you choose does not belong to our own fleet but to a partner supplier, and only with the data needed to arrange that hire.
- Insurers, public authorities and law enforcement when a rule obliges us to, for instance in the event of a fine or an accident.
Transfers outside the European Union
Google and Meta may handle data on servers located outside the European Economic Area. Both rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, which are the mechanisms the GDPR provides for these cases.
How long we keep it
WhatsApp conversations and emails, for as long as we are dealing with each other and afterwards for as long as we need in order to answer any complaint.
Hire agreement and invoicing data, for the periods tax and commercial law require.
Analytics and advertising data, for the retention periods Google sets for each service.
Your decision about cookies is kept in your own browser until you change it or clear the site data.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you access to your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to the way we handle it, and ask for it to be passed on elsewhere. You can also withdraw any consent you have given at any time, without that affecting anything done before you withdrew it.
To exercise them, write to us at serresdrive@gmail.com saying what you want and attaching something that proves who you are. We will reply within one month at the latest.
If you think we have not dealt with your request properly, you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (www.aepd.es).
Security and young people
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. The site is always served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
This site is not aimed at under-18s and we do not knowingly collect data about children. To hire a car you need a valid driving licence.
Changes to this policy
If we change the way we handle data, we will update this page and the date shown at the top. It is worth looking it over now and then.
